The Whirlpool WP2183400 Refrigerator Defrost Timer controls automatic defrost cycles to reduce frost buildup on the evaporator coils. It switches the refrigerator between cooling and defrost modes at scheduled intervals, allowing accumulated frost to melt before cooling resumes. This timed process supports proper airflow and consistent temperature regulation inside the refrigerator. By coordinating cooling and defrost cycles, the timer maintains balanced refrigeration performance and reduces excessive frost accumulation. A functioning defrost timer supports the cooling system’s ability to maintain suitable storage temperatures for food. Its primary role is to manage defrost timing and maintain the proper balance between frost removal and regular cooling within the refrigerator.
