The Whirlpool WP22001682 lid switch assembly helps control washer operation by detecting whether the lid is properly closed. Installed near the washer lid, this assembly responds to the lid position and communicates with the control system to allow appropriate cycle functions, such as agitation or spinning, when the lid is closed. A properly functioning switch supports safe and reliable washer operation by helping prevent certain functions from running when the lid is open. Replacing a worn, damaged, or faulty switch assembly can help restore normal operation when the washer fails to start, agitate, or spin correctly.
