The Whirlpool WP3949238 Lid Switch Assembly detects the washer lid position and controls washer functions based on whether the lid is closed or open. This replacement component uses an electrical switch that responds to the lid mechanism, sending a signal to the washer’s control system. Depending on the model, the switch may prevent the washer from starting or interrupt certain functions when the lid is not properly closed. A faulty switch can cause the washer to stop unexpectedly, fail to start, or display lid-related issues. Replacing a damaged assembly can restore proper lid detection and support normal washer function.
