The Whirlpool WP61002046 Refrigerator Defrost Heater Assembly helps remove frost buildup from the evaporator during the refrigerator’s defrost cycle. This electrical component generates heat when activated by the defrost system, melting accumulated frost and ice from the evaporator coils. The resulting water drains through the designated drainage system, supporting proper airflow and cooling operation. The heater works with the refrigerator’s defrost controls to regulate the heating cycle and maintain effective frost management. Replacing a damaged heater assembly can restore proper defrost operation and support consistent cooling performance. This part is designed for compatible refrigerator models, so checking the appliance model number before installation helps ensure proper fit and connection.
