The Whirlpool WP9758079 Ignitor generates the heat needed to ignite gas in compatible gas ovens. This replacement component heats when electrical current passes through it, allowing the oven’s gas valve to release gas for ignition when the required conditions are met. Proper ignitor function supports reliable burner lighting and consistent oven heating for cooking and baking. A weak or faulty ignitor may cause delayed ignition, difficulty lighting the burner, or an oven that fails to heat. Replacing a defective ignitor can restore proper ignition performance.
