The Whirlpool WPW10167742 Surface Element Infinite Switch regulates the heat level of a compatible electric range’s surface heating element. Connected to the burner control knob and electrical circuit, this switch adjusts the power supplied to the element according to the selected setting. It allows users to control cooking temperatures, from lower heat for simmering to higher heat for boiling and frying. A faulty switch may cause inconsistent heating, limited temperature adjustment, or a burner that fails to respond correctly to the control setting. Replacing a defective switch can restore the intended heat control function. This replacement component is designed for compatible range models requiring the specified infinite switch.
