The Whirlpool WPW10225581 Bimetal Defrost Thermostat helps regulate the refrigerator’s defrost cycle to prevent excessive frost buildup. This replacement thermostat monitors the temperature around the evaporator area and responds to temperature changes by opening or closing the electrical circuit for the defrost heater. When conditions reach the appropriate range, it helps control heater operation during the automatic defrost cycle.
